AI CFO

How do AI CFO services work?

AI can accelerate structured financial analysis, but useful output depends on controlled data, explicit assumptions and human review.

AI should begin with a fact pack

An AI system should not be asked to infer a business story from an uncontrolled ledger export and present the result as certainty. A safer workflow starts with validated inputs, consistent definitions, calculated metrics and evidence IDs.

The fact pack might include revenue movement, margin, receivables, payables, cash, budget variance and other measures relevant to the decision.

What AI can help organise

AI-assisted analysis can help structure observations, group related movements, draft questions, summarise a review and propose possible actions for a person to validate.

  • Observed facts and material movements.
  • Hypotheses that are explicitly labelled as hypotheses.
  • Possible quantified impact using transparent assumptions.
  • Recommended next questions, owners and follow-up actions.

What AI cannot decide on its own

AI does not know the full operating context simply because it has seen a number. Materiality, causation, commercial judgment, legal obligations, stakeholder communication and accountability still require people.

How to evaluate an AI CFO workflow

Ask what data is sent, how inputs are controlled, whether outputs distinguish facts from hypotheses, how human review works and what happens when the model is uncertain. The workflow should make limitations visible rather than hiding them behind confident language.
