1. Reconcile the inputs

  • Confirm entity coverage, reporting period and cut-off.
  • Reconcile bank, receivables, payables and key control accounts.
  • Document missing schedules, estimates and unusual journals.

2. Understand performance

  • Review P&L, balance sheet and historical cash flow together.
  • Compare actuals with prior periods and a usable budget.
  • Explain revenue, gross margin, EBITDA and operating-cost movements.

3. Review cash and risk

  • Investigate overdue receivables, inventory and supplier commitments.
  • Refresh the cash forecast, debt service and tax dates.
  • Identify customer concentration, covenant and liquidity concerns.

4. Turn findings into decisions

  • Separate facts from root-cause hypotheses.
  • Quantify potential impact and record assumptions.
  • Agree recommendations, owners, dates and success measures.
  • Review prior actions and document what changed.

A management aid, not an audit or assurance checklist. Professional review may be needed.
